FAITH: the acrostic

Faith: how does it look in everyday life? It can look quite ordinary. It can be the least glamorous of all options in a given situation. Or it can look heroic. But usually the heroic label doesn't show up until after the deed is done. If feats of bravery and heroism came with a label at the beginning, they'd be far more common.

Faith can actually appear to be the worst possible choice at the time. It can go against our instincts for self-protection and self-preservation. It can put us in line to lose a job, a relationship, a home, a reputation, our financial stability, or our one shot at true happiness in life.

Have you ever heard someone say, "You can make that choice, but don't expect me to bail you out if anything goes wrong!"?

Have you ever thought about the fact that faith is "expecting God to bail you out when you make the right choice"?

In the video series The Divine Conspiracy: Jesus' Master Class For Life, author and philosophy professor Dallas Willard challenges his listeners:

"The next thing, that you are tempted to do what you know to be wrong, do what you know to be right and expect God to bail you out!"

I could say all kinds of things about this idea, but I won't. I'll just let the idea sink in.
