9-1-1

Today is a day to remember. To reflect on the events of September 11, 2001, and how they forever changed the world.  To remember, in our prayers, the loved ones of those who died that day.  And to pray for our military troops who have been working to protect us ever since.

Jesus addressed the tragedy of a tower falling on a group of people and killing them, reminding all of us that it is only God's mercies that keep us alive:

"Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them--do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?  I tell you, no!  But unless you repent, you too will all perish." Luke 13:4,5 (New International Version)

This is the same concept the prophet Jeremiah presented after the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 B.C.:

"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." Lamentation 3:22,23 (King James Version)

Thank you, God, for your mercy, which sustains life, so we may share your love with others!
