"Safely Home" by Pamela Sholty

I just finished reading Safely Home, the debut novel of Pamela Sholty, a local Christian author who has drawn deeply from her own experiences to write a moving tale of love, loss, friendship, and God’s creation of new life, miraculously nourished by grief and loss. Pam gives us a glimpse into the “story behind the story”, in the spiritual realm, where angels minister to God’s people, helping them see life from God’s perspective.
Reading Safely Home is a lot like sitting down for a conversation with a wise and savvy “aunt”. She has a way of telling an interesting story while still weaving in good advice about life and fashion and beauty. The people she talks about are gentle and helpful. They are good examples. They have a lot to offer and Pam allows them to offer their unpretentious goodness to her readers.
In reading “Aunt Pam’s” story, I am reminded of the Bible verse: “Finally brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.” Philippians 4:8 (New American Standard Version)
After reading this book, my mind is “dwelling on good things.” (And I really hope Pam or one of her talented fictional characters is around next time I decide to redecorate or remodel!)
The book, Safely Home by Pamela Sholty is available at www.amazon.com.
